Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust
Good News for Pension Participants
This update is for Local 58 members and retirees covered by the Western Conference pension plan.
The 33% bonus accrual has been extended through 2027.
Covered work performed in 2027 will earn an accrual rate of 1.6% of contributions, compared with the standard rate of 1.2%.
What members should know
- Eight straight years of bonus accruals: The 2027 extension marks the eighth consecutive year that a bonus has been credited.
- More pension earnings: An active participant who worked in covered employment from 2020 through 2027 will have earned bonuses equal to more than two additional years of pension earnings at the standard accrual rate.
- Added protection for 2024 retirees: Participants who retired in 2024 are now included in the Trust's derisking program. Their expected lifetime benefit payments are supported by a dedicated portfolio of high-quality bonds.
- More than $34 billion dedicated to retiree payments: The bond portfolio is designed to help protect those payments from stock market swings and broader economic uncertainty.
- Trust assets exceed $60 billion: Draft financials show that Trust assets reached an all-time high as of June 30, 2026.
Bottom line: The Trustees report that the plan remains financially strong and continues to improve protections for active participants and retirees.
